What is the cancellation policy when returning a transport ticket?
The cancellation policy is as follows: If the time prior to the departure of the bus service from the initial bus stop exceeds 48 hours, a cancellation fee of 25% is deducted from the price of the ticket. If the remaining time until the departure of the bus service from the initial bus stop is less than 48 hours and more than 2 hours, a cancellation fee of 50% is deducted from the price of the ticket. Open ticket fare refund is only possible if the expiration date has not passed. When the transport ticket is returned or cancelled less than 2 hours before the bus service departure, the passenger is not entitled to a fare refund. If one trip of a return ticket for a specific date or an open ticket is cancelled, an adequate portion of the fare for the unused bus service (i.e. the difference between the price of a return ticket and a one-way ticket) is refunded to the passenger.

What is an electronic wallet?
The electronic wallet is a service which enables you to top up financial credit to cards issued by the Slovak Lines and Dopravný podnik Bratislava carriers, as well as to the Bratislava City Card and cards issued by schools and then to use the credit to buy electronic transport tickets. It brings the benefits of a lower fare and a simpler way to purchase tickets. The electronic wallet cannot be loaded to cards issued by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (Slovak Railway Company).

How to use the Bratislava City Card under the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK)?
The Bratislava City Card under the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK) works as a storage medium carrying the prepaid transport ticket, whether you buy a ticket for the zones within the city only or for the regional zones as well. The 10% discount is only applied to the amount corresponding to the prepaid transport ticket price for the 100 and 101 zones. Prepaid transport tickets for the Bratislava City Card can also be purchased at the ticket counters at the Nivy Bus Station (Bottova 7, Bratislava). Bratislava City Card can be used as a storage medium for the electronic wallet as well. If you have a prepaid transport ticket stored on the Bratislava City Card and travel beyond your prepaid zones, you can use the electronic wallet stored on the card to pay for the remainder of the trip when buying a transport ticket on a suburban bus.

Where can I access the history of prior activities and obtain tax documents for the purchase of a transport ticket from my travel card?

What to do if my prepaid transport ticket purchased through e-shop was not recognised by the bus driver’s device?
The reason why a prepaid transport ticket was not recognised may be that the data in the dashboard computer has not yet been updated. We therefore encourage you to have proof of purchase of the prepaid transport ticket on you; after presenting the proof of purchase to the driver, you will be carried free of charge. If you cannot present proof of purchase to the driver, you will have to buy a transport ticket and subsequently file a claim with Slovak Lines.

Can I use the credit on my travel card to buy a prepaid transport ticket?
No, that is not possible. Only cash can be used to buy prepaid transport tickets from the driver on board the bus. At the advance sale offices, cash or payment card can be used. Payments for an online purchase via the carrier’s website are made via bank transfer to the carrier’s account.

Where can I change zones or the temporal validity of the prepaid transport ticket?
The zones or validity of the prepaid transport ticket can be changed at the advance sale offices at the Bratislava and Malacky Bus Stations or at the website of the carrier from which the travel card was purchased. ISIC cards are an exception – the change can be made on the website of whichever of the relevant Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK) carriers.

Where can I extend my SeniorPas for another period?
SeniorPas can be extended 30 days prior to its expiration with the bus drivers on board the Slovak Lines buses, at carriers’ advance sale offices, in the public transport ticket validators, in the ticket validators at railway stations, and in the red multipurpose public transport machines in selected shopping centres. If you are on board a Slovak Lines vehicle, just put your card to the reader: data will be recorded automatically.

When will the credit or prepaid transport ticket ordered via e-shop be recorded on the card?
The purchased prepaid transport ticket or a topped up electronic wallet can be used as soon as 4 hours after the receipt of the payment – the time it takes for the purchase to be distributed to all devices. The prepaid transport ticket or electronic wallet is recorded in the card chip at the first contact of the card with a validator, a machine at the carrier’s advance sale office, a vending machine equipped with a card reader, a reader on board a suburban Slovak Lines bus, or an inspector’s reader. In the reader on board a suburban bus, the prepaid transport ticket is recorded one day prior to the selected validity date of the prepaid transport ticket.

Can I use a Slovak Lines travel card with no photo to buy a prepaid transport ticket?
The prepaid transport ticket cannot be purchased with a travel card without a photo. If you want to use your card to buy a prepaid transport ticket, you will have to bring a photo (3.5 cm x 2.5 cm) to the advance sale office when buying the prepaid transport ticket for the first time. An employee will glue the photo to your card. If your travel card is no longer valid, you will need to request a new travel card. You can get a new travel card issued at the Bus Station on Bottova 7 for a €3 charge. For no additional fee, we will also take a photo which will be printed directly onto the newly issued travel card. If you want to have your card issued at the Malacky Bus Station, you will have to bring a photo (3.5 cm x 2.5 cm) with you.

Can I buy a prepaid transport ticket with my Slovak Lines card from the driver of a suburban bus line?
You can buy a prepaid transport ticket from the driver of a suburban bus line under the condition that you had previously purchased a prepaid transport ticket with your travel card at an advanced sale office at the Bratislava or Malacky Bus Station. The driver can then perform a repeated sale of the prepaid transport ticket purchased in advance for another time period, however, the prepaid transport ticket type must be the same as the one recorded on the travel card at the time of purchase of the prepaid transport ticket at the advance sale office, including the number of zones. If, at the time of your next purchase, you decide to change the zones or the time period of the prepaid transport ticket, you will have to visit the point of sale where the change will be carried out. After that, you will be able to purchase the next prepaid transport tickets from the bus drivers again.

How is the fare calculated if I travel to a bus stop beyond the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK)?
The fare for a trip from a bus stop within the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK) to a bus stop beyond the IDS BK area is calculated as a sum of two fares. The first fare is the price for the Integrated Transport System zones, the second fare is the price for the kilometric distance between the first bus stop outside the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK) area to the destination bus stop.
Has this answer been helpful?
How is the fare calculated?
When you board a Slovak Lines bus, let the driver know the exact name of your destination bus stop. The system will calculate the fare automatically, taking into account the necessary number of zones and temporal validity. The temporal validity is marked on your transport ticket. You can pay for your transport ticket in cash or with your travel card. If you use your travel card to pay, you will get a 10% discount on the fare. If you use a paper transport ticket, you have to validate it in the validator and then present it to the driver; if the transport ticket was purchased for the necessary number of zones and temporal validity, the driver will only print out a registration receipt. If the passenger’s paper transport ticket was not purchased for the necessary number of zones and temporal validity, the passenger must pay the balance due for the remainder of the trip to the driver.

Why is there a different price for the same part of a trip?
The fare depends on the number of zones and the journey time within these zones. If the journey time of a bus service as per the current bus schedule is under 15 minutes, the fare for a standard 2-zone transport ticket paid in cash is €0.70. If the journey time of a bus service as per the current bus schedule is under 30 minutes, the fare for a standard 2-zone transport ticket is €0.90. If your trip time exceeds the 30-minute ticket, a 60-minute 3-zone transport ticket for €1.20 is issued, even though you only travel in 2 zones. The different temporal validity of a transport ticket within an identical part of the journey stems from the bus schedule in which it is not possible to set a generalised journey time along with the operation time for all bus services operating within the respective bus routes. The aforementioned is influenced by the traffic situation at specific times, the frequency of passengers, the number of bus stops serviced by the bus service, the length of the bus service, etc.

Why is the Zone 100 calculated twice?
The Zone 100 is larger than the other zones and covers nearly half of all kilometres driven within the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK). These factors inevitably need to be reflected in the ticket price. However, since the same ticket can be used for a trip within Bratislava, from Bratislava to a suburban region, as well as to travel exclusively within a suburban region, the inequality in the size and weight of the individual zones must be taken into account. The central transport zone has a similar double price weight for example in Prague.

What types of transport tickets are available within the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK)?
One-way transport tickets are issued in paper or electronic form. They are valid for a single trip on any bus route, including night lines, and can be used for any number of line changes. Within the validity of your transport ticket, the trip can be a return trip. The validity is set by number or list of zones and by time. Therefore, you can travel in the specified number of zones or in the specified zones up to the expiration of the temporal validity. Daily transport tickets are a good choice if you travel more than 3 times per a given day. Prepaid transport tickets are the best choice for everyday commute. They come in an electronic form, recorded in a card chip. Luggage surcharge is used when transporting luggage, dogs, and bicycles. All transport ticket types are valid with all carriers participating in the Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK).

What are my options if I commute to Bratislava from a suburban region every day?
For everyday commute, the most favourable option is to buy a prepaid transport ticket. You can choose the zones through which you will travel from the zone map. For example, if you travel from Pezinok, the zones will be 520, 510, 101, and 100. The price of the prepaid transport ticket is determined by the number of zones and its temporal validity. The validity of a prepaid transport ticket can be 7, 30, 90 or 365 days.

What are my options if I only commute within a suburban region?
With the transfer zone tariff, you can use your transport ticket for any number of changes between regional bus services within its validity. If you travel regularly, the more favourable option is to buy a prepaid transport ticket for the zones you use.

What to do if the transport ticket validator does not work?
If the paper transport ticket validation device does not work, you will have to buy a ticket directly from the bus driver, paying in cash or by a travel card.
Has this answer been helpful?
What to do if the machine on board the bus does not work?
If the machine does not work, the driver is required to issue replacement transport tickets which can only be paid in cash. If you have bought a prepaid transport ticket, you will have to present the proof of purchase of the prepaid transport ticket to the driver. For this reason, we recommend carrying the proof of purchase with you. You will then be carried free of charge. If you cannot present proof of purchase to the driver, you will have to buy a transport ticket and subsequently file a claim with Slovak Lines.

How can I calculate the necessary number of zones and temporal validity of a transport ticket?
The number of zones can be calculated based on the zone map available at https://www.idsbk.sk/informacie/mapy-schemy/tarifne-zony/. You can determine how many and which zones you will travel through and how long your chosen trip will take. Based on this information, you can purchase the right ticket. If any of the zones has to be crossed multiple times, it will only be counted once. Any zone crossed must be included in the calculation, in spite of the bus not stopping there. Please remember that the Zone 100 counts as two zones.

Where can I buy transport tickets for one trip and more than 6 zones, as the machines only offer tickets for up to 6 zones?
All types of transport tickets can be purchased at the ticket counters 5 and 6 at the Bratislava Bus Station on Bottova Street 7 in accordance with the current price list. Tickets for more than 6 zones and prepaid transport tickets are therefore also available.

Can I combine a prepaid transport ticket with a one-way paper ticket or with a carnet when using the suburban bus transport?
No – the prepaid transport ticket is electronic and after being read by the reader, the system evaluates the validity of the prepaid transport ticket (part of the route and zones) and automatically calculates the balance due, i.e. the price difference for the part of the journey which the passenger must pay with their travel card or in cash. Unfortunately, the system cannot combine an electronic ticket with a paper transport ticket.
